Sudanese Christians Meet at ABU: We had one thousand (1000) Sudanese Christians on campus for a two-day conference. It was a great time. Kenny had just taken down most of the scaffolding of the gym, the roof was completed, and he had put up lightning rods. They told us to expect 600, so we ordered 600 chairs, got some electricity pumped in and had a podium built. They showed up with 1000, so we gathered all our classroom chairs to make up the difference. Kurt Schimke and I (Dr. O. Palmer Robertson) had an hour each to preach (through an Arabic translator). There were 45 Anglican bishops from both the north and the south of Sudan. In the middle of the Sunday meeting, we had a huge tropical rainstorm (3.5 inches in one hour), with nice-sized hailstorms to make things doubly exciting. We were seated right behind the Archbishop, who was very friendly, and encouraged me to distribute ABU brochures to all the bishops. So they were all reading about ABU as the women were doing their traditional dancing and singing. We has one of our pioneer graduates from Sudan lead in a dedicatory prayer, since this was the very first use of the building. It was a great time. Some of the bishops wanted application forms to take back with them.

AB U? Yes, that's right! The campus has been renamed African Bible University. In Uganda a "college" is where students go for a high school education. Now our campus can be known and recognized for what it is-a place of academic excellence at the university level!
